Ensure the option marked “Search Bar” is ticked under the miscellaneous theme settings and that you have specified a correct web address (base URL) under the site setup panel in RapidWeaver. Using the RapidSearch plugin (not included) create a new RapidSearch page. On this new page, open the page inspector and set the folder to / (top level) and rename the page to search.html in the filename field.
If you want to use another page name or store the RapidSearch page in another location on your website, you will need to open the theme contents and open the index.html file in a code editor. Scroll down to the section commented “Search function code begins here” and modify the address code. You can also rename the “Search” button here. There are two search functions in this theme - one for the header bar and another for the sidebar.
The search function works by passing the search terms entered into the search box to the RapidSearch page. This page uses Google and then lists the search results.
The search function included with this theme is just a basic one and is designed so that most RapidWeaver users can setup a search function without requiring any code or special customisations. The results produced by the search are generated by Google, so your site will need to have been previously indexed by Google. Indexing can take several weeks to achieve and new pages may take a short while before appearing in your search results. The search results page itself requires the RapidSearch plugin, not included with this theme. Separate documentation is available on using RapidSearch.
