The theme contents is a package that contains all of the files required by RapidWeaver in order to apply a theme to your project. Various files are contained in the theme contents including style sheets, preview images, Javascripts, preference lists, graphics and the main index.html file. Should you wish to edit graphics included with the theme or apply custom code edits to all pages of a project, then this is the best place to find and make theme adjustments.
To open the theme contents, go to View > Show Themes in the RapidWeaver menu. Right click (or Ctrl and click) the theme preview icon. From the popup menu, select Reveal Theme Contents in Finder. This will open a new Finder window with your theme files listed within.
If making changes to a theme, it is strongly recommended you work from a duplicated copy of your theme (see below). The changes you can make to a theme are unlimited as all RapidWeaver themes are open source. Some customisations are certainly much easier to perform than others. In instances where you are making changes to items such as images, you may find it much easier to use a third-party utility such as RapidWeaver MultiTool.
Duplicating themes is the process used to make a clone of an existing theme. Making duplicate copies of themes is strongly recomended if you are making heavy edits to a theme. It enables you to preserve an origional, unedited version of the theme which you can refer back to at any time.
To duplicate a theme in RapidWeaver, right-click (or CTRL and click) the theme icon displayed in the theme selection pane. From the popup menu, select Duplicate Theme and give your theme a new name. Click OK to duplicate the theme.
Sometimes RapidWeaver will give an error message after you have clicked OK. This is a bug which has been present in RapidWeaver for many years. Click Cancel to clear the error message and then save and quit RapidWeaver. Restart RapidWeaver as normal and then you should find the duplicated theme is available for selection. It seems the error is the result of RapidWeaver not being able to add your duplicated theme to its directory for whatever reason. Restarting RapidWeaver rebuilds the list of installed themes and plugins enabling you to select your theme for use.
